So I suck at blogging thats obvious..but I do have good reasons..I have a life! Yeah right..anyways work is crazier then ever...I arrested two 13 year olds for eating some gummy lifesavers, valued at $2.29...WTF right? We also rescued a cat from a cult of crazy people who believe it's their destiny to spay and nueter all cats..we also almost had a bag of shit thrown on us..thankfully Carolyn listened to us and mellowed out..yeah all in one day...good times in the Harbor!

Ok it's been forever but for good reasons...more on that later...

Last week I had to interview a female who said she was raped. First of all she lives at a mental hospital and is paranoid schizophrenic..soooo she tells me she was raped up the ass for 5 hours straight and that it somehow ripped her "cartlidge" through to her vagina. Seriously? No bleeding? Also she couldn't tell us ANYTHING about the suspect..only that he was a man...again..seriously...

It was also HOT AS HELL! So I refused to get out of the car and give people tickets..see I'm nice!

Yesterday was one of the craziest days at work. It consisted of one radio call and one hell of a long day.

1000-1020-Roll Call
1020-1030-Load and Inspect Shop and log on.
1030-ADW Shots Fired Man down radio call...we back the unit (basically we are secondary unit on call)
1033-Arrive at scene
1033-Witness man shot 3 times, one to the chest, one to the stomach and one to the groin
1038-Vict loaded onto RA (ambulance), grabbed his ID for 3 secs to find out who he is
Fire Capt tells us he isn't going to make it. He later dies upon arrival.
1038-1115-Set up crime scene tape, get crime scene log going, canvas area.
1115-1130-Run to restroom
1130-arrive back at scene and told to follow up to where possible suspect is.
1135-Arrive at next location, set up perimeter
1145-assist UPR (Urban Police Rifle) officer with getting into position
1150-1500-Sat on roof, baking my ass off in full uniform waiting for SWAT
1500-SWAT arrives and we have to head to command post to debrief SWAT Sgt on what we observed.
1515-Arrive at command post debrief then finally get water
1530-Arrive back with our partners
1531-told to report back to command post
1545-arrive back at command post, supervisor looks at me and realizes I am dehydrated
1545-1700-wait for someone from the station to pick me up
1700-picked up and taken to station, finally eat my lunch I brought that was at the station.
1700-2030-work the front desk and answer about 50 phone calls about the helicopters and why people aren't allowed back inside their home.
2030-head home
2130-Suspect found in a garage to the rear of the house four doors to the right of the target location (all it took was tear gas and canine's up his ass)

This is were we were looking at the target location. If you look over his shoulder you can see the house his parents lived at. Somehow he was able to hop the fences and get to a house that is to the right of us. Thankfully if he came out we would have seen him from where we were:

So after all that the murder suspect was arrested. All thanks to my divisions team work!

Well work has been super busy...with the economy so crappy right now people are out of control..and the rain, why do people insist on driving 50 mph on rain slicked streets in the rain?

This first picture is from my best friend on the job..she obs'd the suspect on a felony vandalism in the park and thought hell why not drive right up to her and pick her up..well they did that and then got the shop stuck! Good times there...it was all good in the end..the car was freed and the nut job went to jail!!!

Okay so last week my partner Neil and I got a call of, "female mental stuck in room with possible broken leg" WTF? We look at the address on the computer and it's one of those "apartments" that have community restrooms..yes in this day and age people still live in those kinds of places...

When we arrive at scene we see the fire department outside placing the ladder to get into a window..odd...seems like they couldn't get the door open..so the fireman gets up to the second story window..opens it and takes this HUGE gasp of air..I guess it smelled horrible...my immediate thought is.."please god don't let her be dead."

We head inside to see whats going on...i guess there was so much trash she couldn't open the door..the firemen had to take it off it's hinges from the inside..seriously whats up with that? Well when we get near the door we kept getting this whiffs of ass..it was seriously making me dry heave..eventually they get the door open and what do I see???? Hundreds of pine.sol bottles and most of them were not filled with pine.sol if you know what I mean..and hundred and hundred of plastic bags filled with random shit..and yes some filled with shit..NASTY

She was transported to a local hospital and really didn't have any physical issues..now the mental issues is a whole other ball game...

Today in the mail there was a letter from Matel..90% of the time I throw them away..but for some odd reason I opened it and thankfully I did. Kai's pack and play has been recalled..so I had to cut the sides away and mail it back to them in order to get a $100 check. The bottom line is to order Gra.co and not Fisher-Pric.e...

Of course I have to work Superbowl Sunday..I swear I get the worst days off..hopefully something fun will happen to make the day go faster...

Ok so it's been a while. Work is out of control...thanks for all the jack asses calling in on a Sunday because they can't deal with normal shit themsleves. Handled the please make the construction in the apartment above me stop..my husband took our car keys and wont give them back..and the best one was yesterday..she called 911 to tell me her boyfriend took her purse..thats ok they both went to jail for domestic battery AND culitvation of marijuana..seems like calling the police to handle your problems is not a good idea when you are growing weed in your living room! I totally nailed them...

So tonight I was working the front desk when this girl (female white aprrox 30 years old, 506 220, trying to look thinner by wearing all black) came into the station and asked if an officer by the name of Gargonzola worked there. Well that name is kinda sorta like the name of my partner. So I tell her you mean Officer ???? (name withheld). She gets super excited and says "yes!" I advise her he is off but is my partner and will be back tomorrow. So asks for a piece of paper to leave him a note. The following is word for word the note:

"It was nice to meet you the other night even in an imbarrassing situation. Anyways I got my charge dropped. It's funny that a piece of ass can get you into so much trouble but I hope you make trouble with me sometime alone outside on top of a car overlooking a great view. I promise to stay out of trouble with the street. All I really want is you in that good looking uniform and a night on the town wherever. You look so damn good I had the guts to come ask for you exclusively.

Well today was my first day back to work after being off for 6 days. It started early going into traffic court..I did the right thing and dismissed his ticket..I wrote the wrong section..stupid vehicle code book..there are way too many to learn. So I try to stick to the nice easy ones..the ones that are fix it tickets..

So after that was over I went to a vandalism call..then I had to direct traffic at PCH and Normandie for a traffic accident..I want to thank the countless drivers who ignored myself and another officer attempting to direct traffic. Thanks assholes you almost ran us over!

I then helped out on a child abuse investigation..from there I grabbed a quick bite to eat..then off to a Burglary investigation where some jerks broke into a ladies condo, ransacked it and took coins, vcr tapes and dvds...well worth committing a felony..

I then went back to the station wrote the report and helped out at the desk. It was nice to be back at work and see everyone I work with. Tomorrow is another day...

So a couple months ago at work we received a radio call for a found adult down near the water front in San Pedro. When we arrive we see the man they are talking about..he's probably mid seventies and disoriented, I could tell he had early stages of Alzheimer's. Of course he has no identification on him..but thankfully he could tell me his name. I run him on the computer and get an address in San Pedro. We head up to that address and the manager tells me that he lives in a grey apartment complex near 14th and Palo Verde. No address..great..so we drive up to that area and find a grey apartment complex..mind you it's not really an apartment complex..it's a building with rooms that share a bathroom on the same floor. It houses mainly drug addicts. I get a hold of that manager and she tells me he lives in the apartment with his daughter. I knock on the door and ask her where her dad is. Of course she couldn't be anymore of a drug addict..female white, thin, no teeth and extremely weather beaten. She tells me that he's off with her boyfriend playing pool. Wrong..he's in my car...anyways I proceed to advise her to sew his name on his clothes so we know his correct address and to keep a better eye on him. Not to mention she's sitting in a studio room with 4 other people..gee I wonder what your smoking in there.

The very next week I hear a supervisor run a Jame Bufford over the air. This time he was all the up near the cliffs in Palos Verdes. I get a hold of the supervisor and tell him I know where he lives and I'll transport him home. I see James and tell him I now officially see him more than my friends..he smiles and I take him home. This time when I see his daughter I let her know that she really needs to sort out her life and take better care of her dad..I read her the riot act for 5 mins before heading home for the night.

A few weeks later a radio call of shots fired comes out from the complex James resides at..sure as shit it's legit..a robbery of a tenant occurred in one of the rooms..I'm standing out front when I see a police car from Cypress pull up in front with a female officer..with James in the back. Seems he made it all the way to Cypress this time..of course I have zero time to deal with the daughter again due to the shooting call...

A few more weeks pass and I get another radio call at this same complex regarding a landlord tenant dispute. I get there solve the problem..but right before I leave I ask the manager how James is doing..she tells me he was killed a few days prior..he was walking on the freeway in downtown when he got hit by 6 cars. WTF? Unbelievable..that poor guy..all because his daughter would rather get high than take care of her father. Of course I see her walk out of the complex at this very time. This is the few times I've actually could have given shit on my job if someone complained about me...I told her she was pathetic and that her father deserved better than her as his daughter..I was brutal but really didn't give a shit.

We understand we can't help everyone..and all we can really be is a temporary fix. Adult protective services had been called..but they never answered the door...it just sucks that as much as we try to help it's all for nothing sometimes.

On a side note..I have had a few fun weeks at work with Prop 8. I understand fighting for our rights..but I don't think people realized when they had these protests nightly it forced my department to send units out there..which forced the rest of us to work short handed which is a MAJOR safety issue. With the fires and the protests we were forced to work with 1 to 3 units for my entire division..thank god there were no shootings..it sucked having it take 45 mins to respond to calls..and trying to explain to people why we took so long..but I guess it had to be done.

Well we have been in our house almost 1 month and boy o boy is it far from being updated. So far we have had the ceiling in the entire house scraped..it's not totally smooth because it was 1960 acoustic..just our luck...we have had Kai's room and the master bedroom painted..and Nicole wants to change the color in the master..NICE...we also have had the downstairs living room painted..the entire house needs paint and new flooring because the linoleum needs to go!!! So everyone can feel our pain here are some pics:

OK so today was day 2 of 6. Yes you heard me I am working 6 days in a row due to the big move coming up in a couple of weeks. So today at 1130 we get a call of a battery..the victim is drunk..at 1130 not only is she drunk she tells us her boyfriend punched her vagina 12 times. Seriously I don't make this up.

So garbage truck runs red light..nails the lady in the truck whose dog takes of down the street like a bat out of hell. My partner and I just happened to be driving by 15 secs after this happened. There were downed power lines, light post leaning on the garbage truck and only me to attempt to control the entire intersection for 15 mins.

I've had a super busy work week with working 5 days..man o man is that a LONG 5 days. Anyways today I had to take Kai in for his chicken px shot and MMR shot. We didn't give them to him on his 12 month check up because he was sick. He cried a little but was totally fine before we got home. We're hoping tonight is smooth because so far so good. This is how tired I was..when I called to make the appt. for the shots she asked me what he needed..all I could think was DHLPP or some other dog shot..I'm so lame. I love how people find out we work 3 days a week and think we have an easy job. Technically I work 4 days a week..10 hour days..but it's not the hours that kick your ass it's the constant bullshi* we deal with. We had a traffic accident where the lady lost control of her Ford Explorer..hit a tree..rolled it and then hit a telephone pole..going down a residential street..needless to say she was going over 25 mph..and I found one of her golf clubs 5 houses away..her husband had major bleeding and there was globs of his blood everywhere (when blood settles it looks like jello)..from there we hustled over to help a unit with DCFS who were detaining a ladies kids because she tested positive for cocaine again..and all she could do was blame the worker (by screaming she was going to kick her ass over and over)..to another traffic accident..to a lady who called 911 because her husband was on his way to drive off the cliffs in Pedro (we never found him after looking for an hour, he texted her back and told her he was over everything) to a call where the man called 911 looking for the number to the station for a crime that occurred last week (yes he was high)..and we finished it up with the guy who drove up on the sidewalk to run the girl over because she spat on his car...so when you call us and it takes us a while to get there, you know where we are and what we've dealt with all day..so it doesn't mean we don't want to be there...we've probably had a long bloody day already..

Tomorrow we are taking Kai to teh Aguariu.m of the Pacifi.c! Not only are we taking him but we are meeting out friend Kelly and her twin girls who are 18 months, her son who is 4 and also 3 of her neices who are 6 8 and 10 ( I think) so yes the kids will out number the adults 2 to 1. Time for my command presence to step up! After the earthquake today we can all use a break...yeah I am scared of Earthquakes...but not nearly as bad as bugs!

We'll make sure to take plenty of pictures..and hopefully Kai wont try to drink the stingray water!

Speaking of Kai, the little man is a walking machine! He does not stop. It's crazy to think that he was barely walking 2 weeks ago and now he is all over the place...

Kai decided being one means that you should be walking. He started take a few steps right before his birthday and now he cruises the house...in fact today he walked around the house while drinking a drink..he is very talented. He's also began to point and we do know that he has some words..nana for banana..doggie, still on DADA..he knows his toes, feet AND another body part..which I'm sure him being a boy you can guess.

He's also become a music freak..I'll get a video of that tomorrow..he bounces his head to certain songs! Just like Mommy..

Today he started to point at things like the plane and my nose..he's also kicking ass on night night time. We read, give him a bottle then say "night night" and he's grab his paci lay on his blankie and fall asleep! He also sleeps from 800pm until 7:00 or 8:00am! Who is this kid?

Kai is feeling better! It seemed to be a 24 hour stomach flu..so thankfully he is back to being the crazy little man he is. Yesterday he decided that why crawl when you can walk and took about 6 steps. We are trying to get ready for the big party this Saturday..we have food ordered, bouncy ordered and decorations bought. That leaves us Friday with getting all the drinks at Costco..Katherine and Emily came by to help us get things ready for the party and to hang out with Kai..Katherine found out the hard way that Kai can wiggle out of a hold as seen by this picture:

Birthday Boy

Well today was the big day that Kai turned 1! We had everything planned..meet at his daycare with treats for the kids..pizza for lunch..YUMMY. It never happened...yesterday we attempted to get his 1 year photos in the morning..he was super clingy so that didn't work out. At the end of lunch he threw up..like a big boy throw up. We had his one year doctor's appointment scheduled so we went there and he was fine..he weighs a little over 21 lbs and is 30.5 inches long..we decided that only 1 shot was a good idea due to him not feeling too great. He threw up again after dinner..so pedialyte it was before bedtime.

He woke up today super lethargic and extremely clingy..so he spent almost the entire day drinking pedialyte and sleeping on his mommies. Thankfully he started to feel better near dinner time..so his birthday dinner was a banana. PATHETIC..at least he didn't throw it up.

Crazy Work Week

I had the craziest work week the last 5 days. Working the 4th of July wasn't too bad. I worked the command post at the beach which was two coves away from all the beach peeps. I ended up working only an hour and half overtime..which is 8 hours less than the OT I worked last year so I'll take that. So in the last 3 days I have dealt with too many drunk ladies. On Saturday my partner and I almost got into a use of force with a drunk mom who kept crying for her daddy..she got transported to a hospital because she was too drunk to care for herself..her dad gets there takes her outside to put her in the car and she takes off running down the street!
This all happened on Sunday:

1055-Animal Cruelty Call of man slamming cat into ground (it was a man scolding his cat)

1130-Additional Unit request-Unit needed another unit to help with a suspect who was holding her 5 week old. She refused to give anyone the baby so we could cuff her..she ended up cuffed and I hung out with the little one until we could get the stories straight.

1230-Domestic Battery-neighbors hear screaming from apartment..two girls arguing only

1300 Domestic Battery Call- a passerby saw a man push a woman into an apartment.. I guess the dad wasn't happy that when the mom of the infant (9 days old )was in the shower her sister in law breast fed her (SIL has a 2 1/2 month old daughter)..I know gross...

1430-Ambulance overdose call-Two 23 year old girls OD. One on prescription meds the other one on Heroin and Xanax. Both transported to a local hospital and survive.

1530-Found Child -11 year old found a 3 year old. We get to the location and drive around and around the block..unable to locate either child. Dispatch does a call back, unable to contact..bad number..thats all we can do..

1630 We get to eat for 45 mins

1830-ADW suspect there now-we back another unit to a call with a man with a knife at house. It ends up being a dispute only..with no knife..

1900-Cite 2 people for tickets en route to Station..

Holiday Weekend

Well I am back to work tomorrow after being off of work for a week due to the accident. I'm feeling much better with only a little soreness left over. I have a super long week working Wed-Sun..including the 4th of July.which is always a pleasure when EVERYONE feels the need to call 911 when they hear a firework going off. I might be working down a the beach at the command post..Kai and Nicole have a party to go to..I'm totally jealous!!! Hopefully I can meet them after I get off of work.

I've been held out of work until Weds...so that gives me time to heal and get a new car. My insurance company already cut me a check for my car and I got the copy of the police report. She is 100% at fault. The witness I talked to was driving right behind her when she ran the red light. So now I have to wait to get all my out of pocket money spent on medical, rental and other issues. At least she is at fault!!! The best part is based on witness statement LBPD gave her a ticket for running the red light! YES. Too bad we can't do that at work...

Well it has been 3 days since the accident and I am super groggy. I'm amazed at how much paperwork I have had to do to get everything sorted out. I'm having issues typing and my train of thought is all messed up. Hopefully it will make me forget to eat!
It looks like I'll be trying to get a new car this weekend..I've been held off of work until Mon. That sucks because I burned a lot of my sick time with my knee surgery..there isn't much I can do because there is no way I can be at work carying a gun in my state right now.

So the latest on my accident is this: Car is offically totalled..which I'm not happy about because I haven't had a car payment in a long time..and lord knows what they are giving me is not going to get me a decent car without payments..so looks like I am back to the life with a car payment. I had to go back to the ER yesterday because now I have a concussion..which totally sucks ass..I can't close eyes without the workd spinning around me..overall I'm feeling super crappy..and to top it off I have a cold.

So this morning I got up at 0400 and went to work my first day on bikes..and guess what? I'm sick..and I decide to make my vest as tight as possible..which resulted in me pretty much passing out and being sent home sick..at 0600..so I get home around 0620 cough up a ton of phlegm then decide to go get bagels at Noah's when it opens at 0700. I'm heading over there when I decide to take a different route (mistake #1) so I'm driving south on Studebaker towards Stearns when I say to myself, "gee I'm hitting all the green lights...must be that it's 0700 (mistake #2) when I start driving through the GREEN light at Willow out of the corner of my eye I see a car coming westbound on Willow blowing through the red light! Resulting in this:

Of course my brand new prescription sunglasses from Oakley ended up in the gutter..they flew out of the smashed rear driver's side door...I'm not happy! I'm sore as hell and have lovely seat belt burn.

UPDATE: I went to the tow yard to grab everything else that was left in my car..and from the pictures you can't tell how bad it was! The seat I was sitting in has been pushed over towards the center console and the beam between the rear and front of the car on the driver's door is pinched in..and the bottom were my feet were is also dented in...I'll be really surprised if they don't total out my car..the frame is bent!!!

We cannot believe his two molars have not popped through yet. You can see bits of them but they still are not 100% through...which leads to Grumpy Kai. Again he is getting super close to walking..but knows he can crawl faster than Nicole and I can walk. We really need to put him in a baby crawling contest...maybe at the OC Fair..look for speedy Kai.

Kai is getting super close to walking. He has been able to walk holding onto the couch, table and walk with his push toy for a while now..but the last few days he has been standing by himself..then yesterday he was standing holding onto the couch and he turned and took 1 step! We are in trouble as soon as he walks. He is so fast crawling that it's hard to keep up with him...it's not like the house is huge but he gets away from us! So far he loves the closet in the front of the house and he LOVES the drawer in our bathroom..he has a favorite pastime of fling the tampons...

Well I made it through my first week back at work. I had to work 4 days in a row..which is way too long. When I start at 0630 and don't end until 1915..that doesn't take into effect getting to work, getting ready as well as getting undressed and driving home. I get up at 0500 and try to get to sleep by 2100..so on the days I work all I do is work and sleep! It was great to see all my coworkers who I haven't seen since before vacation. Considering the job I have is nuts..it's nice to see that we are all ordinary people (with crazy sense of humors). It's been super slow at work which gives all of us working Patrol a chance to be practive. We turned into school PD and arrested a bunch of truants! Lets see I made two boys cry..man enough to ditch school but not man enough to not cry???

I haden't been on patrol since my surgery so it was weird being out in the sun and seeing how bogus 90% of our calls are! I can tell you this..there is nothing like driving to a call with the lights and sirens on...I've played in some big games in college and nothing compares to the rush..so it was great to drive again!

Kai is almost 11 months old..which means his first birthday is only a few weeks away. We aren't sure what we are going to do for his birthday yet..with the house on the market it's going to be tough having a party here..we'll see what we come up with.

Today is my last day of vacation before heading back to work tomorrow..it's been a nice long almost 5 weeks. I have a ton of stuff to do to get ready for work..cleaning all my gear..in fact finding all my gear. The one thing that stinks about heading back to work is I wont get to spend anytime with Kai on work days. I leave before he wakes up and I get home after he is alseep. I am not happy about this at all!

He is no longer eating in the middle of the night..because he is now into his pacifier..it took him a little over 9 months to like one. Hopefully this means he is getting closer to sleeping through the night.then again him getting up once isn't too bad.

Wow was it a hot weekend or what? We had a great time with Kai. Friday night after Nicole got of of work we went to REI, dinner then to Babies R Us. We bought Kai a ton of things including a walker which he loves and screams every time he walks with it. On Saturday we went around looking at open houses and he was great..then we went to a friends house for a bbq and Kai went in the pool and freaked every time Scott went under the water. There was another toddler there a few months older than Kai and they played really well together. When he started to cry Kai went over to him to try to make him stop..it didn't work but at least he tried. On Sunday Nicole went to soccer and I stayed home with Kai. It was too hot for him to be out there at the field for a few hours. We went to lunch then came home and he fell asleep in his high chair when I was feeding him lunch. Then we went and got Kai something to play on in this heat. He wasn't too excited at first but then he finally got into it:

So I was all excited to go to the bike detail...then I find out today that our wonderful Captain thinks I need to be on patrol for a month or 2 to make sure my knee is good. He thinks I am going to be on bikes for two weeks and then get injured again. I guess he thinks I am like some other officers we have that love being inside and get hurt every 6 months. Thats not me...to be honest it's fucked up. Not that I have anything against patrol..it's that I was totally looking forward to bikes. Here is a picture of what we did in bike school:

My vacation is half way over! I've been busy this week cleaning out the garage, working out and working out some more! Hopefully all this working out will result in some major weight loss. We had our big garage sale today..good lord..by law we can't start until 0800, yeah tell that to the 10 people that were here at 0630 when I put up the garage doors..OMG it was out of control...the good news is we sold almost all of the big stuff that was taking up the garage. A little work tomorrow in there and the home gym will be up and running again! I cannot wait to lift again. The good news for me is I am able to burn fat quickly..I just need cardio or weights..so the last 2 weeks of vacation will consist of cardio and weights. I am down 8 lbs now.

Tomorrow is our first Mothers day. I think we are going to meet some of Nicole's family at a park in Huntington Beach..so Kai can see his extended family. I will take pics and post after.

Kai Update

Well Kai has tooth #8 breaking through..so that makes 4 up top and 4 on the bottom. Hopefully now that this tooth has popped through he'll sleep through the night. Lately he has been going down at 8:00pm and waking up at 11:00pm and sometime between 1:30am and 2:30am. At least after the second wake up he goes back down until 8:00am..if only he could go 8:00pm until 8:00am.

His favorite thing to do lately is crawl over to the dog water bowl and splash the water out before we get to him. He's super fast! He has been standing up holding onto the furniture forever but doesn't seem interested in walking. I have noticed that he can stand alone for a second or 2...I guess thats a start...

Tomorrow he needs to go in an have some blood drawn to check his Iron level..this is going to be a fun morning.

Diet Update

I am down 7 lbs! That would be Kai at birth...I have done great working out daily. Yesterday I took the dogs on a 30 minute walk..which was tough with sunburn feet and shoulders..and today I went on a 10 mile bike ride..which was tough on my butt..thats the longest I have riden since my knee surgery. At this rate I should meet my goal of 15lbs by Memorial Day.

Our Poor Feet

Both my feet and Nicole's feet are tore up. I have a huge blister on the ball of my left foot, plus a neat little sunburn on the top of my right foot only..very odd. Nicole has about 3 blisters between some of her toes..all from playing sand soccer...of course I have a nice sunburn on my arms...exactly where I did not put sunscreen...which is everywhere but a 5 inch strip on the upper arm..

We ended up playing 5 games in 2 days and losing in the Finals to a semi pro team..by 1 goal in the last 2 mins..considering we were all over 30..thats not bad at all!

Weekend in the Sun

We are down in Oceanside for a sand soccer tournament...Kai got his first taste of the ocean..lets just say he hated it and refused to let his feet hit the water..he did play in the sand and he even tried to take some home in his mouth. I will post pics when we get home....

So far I have done fairly well on this diet...I have yet to eat a french fry for over a week..that is a record for me...we walked almost 3 miles today..which is the most I've been able to do since surgery 8 months ago..it must be the 2 cortisone shots.

Again I am down 5 lbs...10 lbs to go for my goal on my vacation....woo hoo!

Moving Day

Tomorrow my mom is moving back to England..I don't know why I am so sad...she has always been there for me..from video taping all my DH games instead of just enjoying them herself..to asking me if I needed a turkey baster when I told her I was gay. She has been the one person I have been able to count on my entire life. Of course I would want her to stay here..but how selfish of me? I could only hope that I can be as happy as her when I am her age. We all know that her heart as always been in England and that she has always wanted to go back...I know that not only will I miss seeing her but Kai is going to miss his funny speaking nana as well. I love you mom...

Today I had my 8 month check up for my knee..and man did it hurt. Not only did I get it drained I got two cortisone shots..one in the knee and one for my IT band..he thinks that maybe one of the plugs didn't set right...so before I have another scope I am going to foam roll daily and see how it goes. Man does it hurt right now!

Okay so far I am 4 days into the big diet. I am calling it Biggest Loser Long Beach..I have passed several small tests. I went to Wendy's to get my Mom and Nicole Frosty's..I got a diet coke..I took Scott to Arby's and got NOTHING. I have rode my bike or walked everyday so far! Which has resulted in a loss of 3 lbs. My goal is 15 lbs by Memorial Day..

Of course I have eat some of Kai's Joe O's...how can I give him some and not myself?

Pond Time

On Sat we took a little time out from digging and went to the pond at El Dorado Park. Considering we have lived here for almost 7 years we have to yet gone to this pond. My mom bought a bag of day old bread so we set off to feed the ducks..what we didn't know was there are other creatures in that pond!

When we got home Kai was tired and decided cuddling up to nana was the way to go.

Ok Nicole and I are morons. First outdoor project we did ourselves was build the pond...where the palm tree used to be and on a weekend that is was 95 degrees, but we finished it:

So today we start on the backyard...the only part of house that looks like crap. Nicole got to it before I could take a before picture..but let me tell you it was HOT AS HELL! OMG we are morons. Bottom line is we got both corners cleaned up of all grass, the plastic divider and got the soil ready to plant...as well as going to the the park with my mom and Kai..of course Nicole has 2 blisters opened and gooey, about 4 "hot spots" on the other hand. I only have 1 blister, because I must have "man hands."

Well so far day 1 into the diet and so far so good. I walked and picked up Kai which is about 2 miles round trip. I then rode my bike from the store to Scott and Diane's, then home. That was a 5 mile trip. So my total is 7 miles of workout today..of course tomorrow morning might be tough..not only that we have decided to try to make our backyard look presentable. That means adding two flower beds in the corners..on the HOTEST weekend! WTF? Thats ok my mom is staying with us to help out with Kai. I'll take before and after photos for sure.

So again 1 day down and 7 miles of workout..not bad

Vacation Time!

I am officially on vacation and not due back to work until the Tuesday after Memorial Day..so yes I am off for 5 weeks! There are some major positives to my job. One being a 5 week vacation. Just think in 6 more years I'll earn another 2 weeks off of work! When I head back to work I will be working the Mountain Bike detail..so I went and bought a bike today to get my legs and crotch ready for some summer riding.

I'm also going to attempt to loose 15 lbs on this 5 week vacation. So why not blog about my daily struggle to not eat fast food and sit on the couch all day? I'm not going to tell you what my starting weight is, but I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. It's that bad that when we go out with Kai I think everyone assumes that I gave birth to him because I am 2 times bigger than Nicole. So on that note instead of driving to pick Kai up I am going to walk over there with his jogger.

This past weekend we took Kai to Vegas for a weekend of sun, soccer, sun and more sun. It was super hot..but we made sure he was in the shade most if not all of the time. Our team won the tournament! So again we get free entry next year. This year we rented a house with some of our friends. The best part was the house had a great pool, so Kai officially went swimming for the first time. Swimming in the sense of him hanging onto Nicole the entire time. I'll post pictures this weekend when I have a day off.

I also found out that I will be working the Mountain Bike Detail at work! Yes I get paid to ride a bike. So look for my legs to be toning up soon.

Typical Day

So a lot of my friends what to know what a typical day at work is like, so here goes:

0445-I wake up look at the clock and curse
0530-The alarm makes me get out of bed
0600-Leave for work
0620-Arrive at work
0630-Roll Call in the roll call room, everyone gets assignment for the day and other important information (wanted suspects, officer safety information, etc)
0640-I take my seat for the next 12 hours working the front desk.
0645-Let the phone calls begin
0700-0830-Is the busiest time for BFMV (Burglary from Motor Vehicle) reports because everyone is walking outside to their car and notice their stuff missing.
0830-1200 answer and average of one phone call a minute...including one needing the number to Boy Scouts Of America (WTF)? Like I know that. Take numerous walk ins for lost wallets, cell phones and the ever lovely hit and run traffic accident.
1200-1530 more useless phone calls of people yelling at me because I don't speak spanish and that I seem to not care that their neighbor has parked on a public street in front of their house. Plus 3 or 4 calls of a car that doesn't belong in their neighborhood because the person driving it is a minority. The greatest part of that is I run the plate and 90% of the time it's one of their new neighbors! HA HA

1530-South Gang Unit starts following a wanted felon (for threatening to kill LAPD Harbor Officers), who is driving a car with 2 women and an 18 month old baby.
1531-Above unit is now in pursuit
1532-All of the division is racing to back up unit.
1535-PIT manuever has been authorized
1539-Unit is code 6 (stopped at a location)
1542-Unit puts out code 4, needs an RA (ambulance) for a male not conscious, not breathing, need a supervisors and additional units for OIS (officer involved shooting)
1542-2215-I sit at the ACC/Watch Commanders office and assist, including meeting one Chief Bratton who came by the station to check on the officers involved. Get the low down on how the shooting really went down (Suspect not only got shot at least twice in the head he also got run over with a front bumper take down from undercover officers who observed him firing on fellow officers, doing so left the suspects gun lodged into the window of the officers car!)

9 months

Today is Kai's 9 month birthday, we went to the doctor yesterday for his checkup. For some reason they think he only weighs 18 lbs. How can a baby only gain 1 pound over 3 months? Both Nicole and I think it's more like 21 lbs..like the scale said the first time they weighed him. I think he shifted his weight the second and third time he was on the scale (I tought him that).

So his 6th tooth is coming in. That gives hime 4 up top and 2 down south. Last weekend he finally figured out "Bye Bye" he even mumbles something when he waves. He also tries to make the elephant noise with his lips. Thanks to PJ from day care for that! He loves it. If you put your hand in front of his mouth he'll talk so you can pat his mouth and he loves that sound. Thanks to Grandma for that. So all three of those he picked up last weekend.

We've also realized that we are outgrowing this house. So we are patiently looking for a bigger house, still around this area.

So due to my knee surgery I have been working inside the last 3 months, which means answering the phone calls and dealing with people who come to the front desk. The following are true calls/people that we have dealt with the last few weeks.

We had a code 37 vehicle (stolen vehicle) being tracked by the airship (Helicopter) last week up in San Pedro. The airship hovers pretty low and stays in the area until there is a code 4 (suspect in custody, etc). Needless to say it was in the air for a little while. I answer the line at the front desk and a female caller askes me, "why is that helicopter over my house?" My answer is always, "Maam they are looking for possible suspects." Do I want to say, "Maam there is a possibilty that Charles Manson escaped from prison and he was last spoted in your area." Anyways she keeps complaining how loud the airship is and finally asks me, "Can you please have it fly away? This is not good for my quality of live. I have a really bad headache."
Nice..lets put citizens and officers lifes in danger because she had a headache!

Yesterday we had a deaf guy painted like pappa smurf hanging 30 feet off of a bus stop over the 110 freeway with a sword...needless to say the entire division was there...due the bus stop being on the 110 freeway they shut the freeway down..so we all know what happend..TRAFFIC. We started getting calls of people saying there were stuck on the freeway..what did they want us to do? Beam them off the freeway? I got a call of a lady that wanted to go through the crime scene tape because she had to go home and walk her dogs. I tried explaining that the tape means that there is a crime scene there..she didn't care and was pissed off...that went on for over 7 mins on the phone...my desk partner got a call from a lady who asked if we could send a unit to her car that was stuck in traffic because she had perishable foods in her car. She wanted LAPD to deliver her food!

Yep tooth number two is already showing. Less than a week and the little man now is getting his bottom two teeth. We moved on to Oatmeal cereal last night as well. We tried to get a photo of it but he kinda didn't like my fingers in his mouth and freaked out. O well it's only barely scrathing the surface we'll have to wait until it comes all the way in.

Bathing

Kai is now a little over 5 months. Last weekend he decided that he likes sitting up. He can sit for a while..until he starts to lean back then it's over. He's also eating rice cereal every night, which has led to some stinky gas. Here are a few pics of him after the bath last night. He loves being bare foot so he can suck on his toes!
